Country Short Course Championships in Wangaratta

Day 1 saw many great swims, as the team collected 7 medals. Rebecca Holmes took gold in the girls 16-17 years 100m butterfly, along with bronze in her 100m IM and 100m free. Isabella Symons claimed silver in her 100 fly, in which Kate Jordan took the bronze. Jacob Waller claimed bronze medals in his 100m IM and 100m free events, along with an agonisingly close 4th in his fly. Some great PBs were recorded, especially by the younger swimmers, including Country debutants Ella Wassing and Layla Day.
Day 2 continued the team success. Again the younger swimmers swam big PBs, with Alexandra Gibson, Thomas Hawke and Xavier Morrissey all doing very well. All three Wassing sisters - Imogen, Ella and Brittney - swam PBs in every event, and some of the older swimmers also showed consistent improvement, including Harrison Howell and Michael Valentine. 4 more medals were claimed, with Cameron Jordan continuing his consistent streak in taking gold in his breaststroke, Rebecca winning 2 more medals, with silver in her 200m free and bronze in 100m IM, and Kate Jordan finished off a big weekend of racing with the bronze in her 100 breaststroke. Some strong performances by Eleanor Rodda, making a return to competition, and an impressive Country debut for Carmen Franz with top 5 finishes in her 100IM and backstroke rounded out a very solid weekend of racing as the team finished 7th overall on the aggregate points table. The team was led by Rebecca Holmes, Kate Jordan, Jacob Waller and Matthew Slot who all claimed 4 gold medals, with 3 gold medals each won by Isabella Symons, Maggie Skewes and Kaitlyn Morgan.
