John Jordan

Head Coach

Strengthening Squad, Senior Squad, National Squad

John has been coaching in the Bendigo region for over 11 years and is an Advanced Accredited Coach with Silver Recognition.

John has always been involved in sport and working with young people to challenge them to be the best version of themselves. Working with swimmers to set their goals, then working together try and achieve them has always given him a great deal of satisfaction, whether in the pool or in life in general.

John encourages his students to have a positive can do attitude, to be a good team player, to support and respect others, and to have realistic expectations that meet their commitment to training and competing.

John also works part time for the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching sport, and playing golf.

Anne Sherman

Head Coach

Intermediate Squad, Junior Country Squad, Junior State Squad

In May 2013, Anne started her coaching career as a Competitive Swimming coach, teaching stroke correction to the club’s young squad swimmers. As an accredited Bronze License Coach since 2019, Anne has coached both the Intermediate and Junior Squad swimmers to compete at Country, State and National levels.

Anne is a former National Age and Open finalist, Victorian State Team swimmer, Country record holder and Australia Day Medallist.

Anne joined the BESC community in 2005 were she has been passionate in the development of younger swimmers. Encouraging them to participate, enjoy and achieve their best in the pool at all levels of swimming.

In 2016, Anne received an Ascta Victorian Age Group Special Coaching Achievement Award. And in the following year was presented with a Life Membership of BESC.

Now as a Coach, Anne continues to help nurture the next generation of swimmers.

Kate Van Emmerik

Coach

Junior Country Squad, Junior State Squad

Kate holds her Swimming Australia Development Coach Accreditation, as well as bringing expertise about exercise from being an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, holding a Master Degree in Exercise Physiology and Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science.

Kate has over 6 years’ experience coaching at BESC, including coaching swimmers at State, Vic Country and Development levels.

 Kate has also competed for BESC, including competing at the Australian Open Championships for 5 years and at the Australian Age Championships for 6 years.

Kate has a love for the sport of swimming, and is passionate about helping swimmers achieve their best. She believes the sport teaches life skills that will help swimmers to lead successful and happy lives, and aims to create an environment where swimmers can feel valued and encouraged.

In her spare time, Kate enjoys spending time with family, playing social mixed netball and running.

Bryce Schubert

Junior Coach

Development Squad

Bryce has been teaching since 2017. He is an emerging leader within the club after having competed with the club for many years. Bryce has swum from local district meets to country and state level swimming. He has achieved country finals and won several medals along the way. His highest level of competitions is a state open final.

Veda Haines

Junior Coach

Development Squad

Veda Haines has been competing with BESC for almost ten years. In 2022, Veda took on an assistant coaching role for the Development Squad swimmers each weekday afternoon.

Veda says she ‘really enjoys working with the young swimmers and encouraging them to be their best’.

Our club encourages our emerging talent to participate in the Swimming Victoria Developing Young Leaders Program.  We celebrate the diverse skills our swimmers bring to the club and actively seek our ways for them to excel.
