Social Events
Throughout the swim seasons, there’s numerous ways to get to know the members of the club and wider swimming community:
Picking up and dropping off your swimmers for training. The BESC club rooms are available to sit inside, have a warm drink or snack. We encourage the swimmers to use this space and the free WIFI.
Club Annual Presentation Night evening. At the conclusion of the Long Course Season , the club hosts at All Seasons Hotel to celebrate our swimmers’ achievements over dinner. Trophies, awards, recognitions are all part of the evening.
Club Committee and AGM. The club and pool committees have several positions which come up for nomination each year. There’s a hand over process if you want some assistance and we are always open to new ideas, initiatives and ways of improving. People are welcome to attend the AGM just to see what the committee is all about, there is no pressure to nominate for a position.
During competition meets. Look for the BESC flags or your fellow competitors and we can all sit together. We can share programs, marshalling from within the seats and keeping an eye on the time. Care givers are always available to lend a hand if you have to step out for a breather, or watch other children while you focus on your competitor. When you undertake volunteering duties, you will be shadowed or paired with a BESC volunteer. For longer events over a weekend or more, check on to see with the Minor or Major Meets Coordinator whose families are attending and where they are staying.
Our swim club social events. An initiative from our Young Leaders, soon to be coming up each season will be swim club activity days – a chance for the club swimmers to spend some time together outside of the pool. Details forthcoming!
Time Trials. During long course season (over summer), the Club hosts weekly time trials which are simulated race afternoons. These are a great way for the swimmers to experience a race environment, but also for volunteers to have a try at supporting the Club and meeting other people.
Time trials are the evenings when we will typically have pizza nights, BBQs or club photos.
